My Sketchbook Arrived!

The Sketchbook Project: 2011

My sketchbook arrived today.  I think I get 80 pages to fill on the subject of Help. Inspirational fun.

I’ll post the pages as they come…

I’m excited to announce I’ve recently joined the Wanda Nowak Agency in NY.

Wanda has been representing artists with a unique range of styles from around the world since 1995.

A New Landscape

So much oil in the news, and unfortunately the water and the soil and our food. Our commercial food supply is completely dependent on fossil fuels, through pesticide and fertilizer production,  trucking and refrigeration, we eat a lot of oil. A true fossil fuel shortage is a reality within the next 40 years and factory farming will become unsustainable. An efficient, healthy and sustainable solution is to grow organic produce at the source on all those empty urban rooftops.

Thanks,

I had the privilege of working with Art Director Martha Geering for the July/August issue of Sierra Club Magazine. The story “Homeland Security, When you’re poor, the environmental movement doesn’t stop at a simple thing like pollution” can be found on newsstands or online. The package contains six stories about community organizers fighting for environmental justice and often winning. It’s a pleasure to work on stories like these, acknowledging community organizers efforts and accomplishments.

Bird CityI was just notified I am a Merit winner in the 3×3 Professional Show! It’s an honor to be included in such company. Thanks 3×3 for promoting and encouraging contemporary illustration.

Tree Girl

Tilbury House Publishers invited me to create a piece of art for a show at Book Culture in NYC.

The challenge was “to create a kid-sized work of art, as if you are illustrating a page for a children’s book about your own life. A self-portrait (of you now, or as a kid)? Sketch of your studio? Scene from a favorite memory? Make it realistic, funny, dramatic, fantasy-based, even abstract — whatever you feel best represents who you are.”

The launch party is on Monday, May 24th (the night before BookExpo), beginning at 6pm at Book Culture (536 West 112th Street, NYC)

Artists are also invited to an intimate reception afterward for the art & publishing community at Community Food & Juice at 8:30pm. Tickets are available at http://oneofus/eventbrite.com.

The Powered By Girl  Campaign is from Hardy Girls Healthy Women (www.hghw.org)

If you’re in the city stop by…

The show will remain up at Book Culture through the end of the week.
Works will be exhibited together in large box frames, and sold individually in protective sleeves for $25
100% of sales will benefit the Powered by Girl campaign.

Springtime Rabbit

I’ve been looking around for a site to showcase my stock illustration library and have finally found a good fit. Profilestock.com has an easy to use search engine, e-commerce tools and a built-in pricing calculator so pricing can be predetermined or decided case by case. My images are accessible through all ProFile Member sites and my clients can download their hi resolution art with just a few clicks.
